Port Macquarie Base Hospital

The expansions works at Port Macquarie Base Hospital involved the construction of a new four storey clinical facility at the northern end of the existing hospital facility. The new clinical building provides for an expanded emergency department, additional medical and surgical inpatient beds, reconfigured and expanded operating theatres, new Critical Care Unit and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory. In addition, the proposal will provide in excess of 200 additional car spaces to ease congestion of the existing car park.

Group DLA were engaged to provide Building Code of Australia (BCA) consultancy throughout the design development phases of the project, including the provision of certification on behalf of the Crown (Section 109R of the EP&A Act) over a multi staged program. Our involvement included the assessment of extensive Fire Engineered and Accessibility performance based Alternative Solutions .
