Leichhardt Oval

The masterplan created for Leichhardt Oval sought to enable correct positioning of facilities to allow for future expansion and review compliance issues regarding current Australian Standards and BCA. The First stage of construction works for the project involved the restoration of the historic western stand including provision of new ticketing facilities and Public Domain improvements centred around a new entrance at Mary Street.

Stage Two works included upgrade of the media rooms and refurbishment of change room areas in the main grandstand, new first aid room and toilets in the western Stand, and additional ground maintenance facilities. The Main Grandstand proposal also involved the provision of new and upgraded fire safety measures to achieve compliance with current building regulations.

Stage Three of the project provided new corporate facilities including a function room, bar, kitchen and a new stair and lift to improve the overall accessibility of the main grandstand. Group DLA were engaged as the appointed Accredited Certifier / Principal Certifying Authority (PCA), responsible for issue of Part 4A Construction and Occupation Certificates over the multi staged program. Our involvement included the assessment of Fire Engineered and Accessibility performance based solutions, as well as consultation with a number of external stakeholders such as Council and the NSW Fire Brigade (NSWFB).
