The Royal Newcastle
Redevelopment of the former Newcastle Hospital site and construction of a multi tower mixed use development overlooking Shortland Esplanade and Newcastle Beach. The subject “united” building incorporated a part five (5), part six (6) and part an eight (8) storey residential and retail building (Building 1); an eight (8) storey resideitial and retail building overlooking a new plaza; and a Sixteen (16) storey building incorporating studio apartments, a hotel, conference facility and retail uses (Building 3). The project also involved extensive public domain improvements and two (2) levels of basement car parking.
Group DLA were engaged as the appointed Accredited Certifier / Principal Certifying Authority (PCA), responsible for issue of Part 4A Construction and Occupation Certificates over the multi staged program. Our involvement included the assessment of extensive Fire Engineered and Accessibility performance based Alternative Solutions.
